COURSES OF STUDY

  1. Two year Higher Secondary Courses in Arts and Science.
  2. Three year Degree Courses in Arts and Science.
    • In the Arts stream a student is allowed to take Major in one of the following subjects: Assamese, Economics, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Mathematics, Sociology.
    • In the Science stream, Major is allowed in one of the following subjects: Botany, Chemistry Physics, Mathematics, Zoology.
  3. Post-Graduate courses (M.A./M.Sc.) under Directorate of Distance Education, Dibrugarh University.
  4. Certificate/Parallel/Vocational/Career Oriented Courses.

  1. THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSE (ARTS)

  2. THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSE (SCIENCE)
    • Botany : 10
    • Chemistry : 10

COMBINATION OF SUBJECTS

A. HIGHER SECONDARY (ARTS)

  1. English is Compulsory.
  2. MIL/Alt. English is compulsory. In the admission form a student will have to opt for a Modern Indian Language (Assamese only) or Alternative English.
  3. A student can select a maximum of four subjects from the following.
    Three of them are compulsory.
    (i) Advance Assamese (ii) Economics (iii) History/Mathematics (iv) Logic and Philosophy (v) Political Science (vi) Sociology

B. HIGHER SECONDARY (SCIENCE)

  1. English is compulsory :
  2. MIL/Alt. English is compulsory. In the admission form a student will have to opt for a Modern Indian Language (Assamese only) or Alternative English.
  3. A Student can select a maximum of four subjects from the following. Three of them are compulsory.
    (i) Biology/Logic and Philosophy (ii) Chemistry
    (iii) Mathematics (iv) Physics

C. THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSE (ARTS)

  1. English is compulsory for all except for those with English major.
  2. MIL/Alt. English is compulsory for all. Among the Modern Indian Languages (MIL), facilities are available for Assamese only.
  3. A student can select any one of the following subject as Major :
    (i) Assamese (ii) Economics (iii) English (iv) History
    (v) Mathematics (vi) Philosophy (vii) Sociology (viii) Political Science
  4. The students, who are not interested in studying Major course, can select any two subjects as pass/core course.
  5. A major course student has to select any one subject as a subsidiary subject.
  6. A Paper on Environmental Studies is compulsory for second year students.

D. THREE YEAR DEGREE COURSE (SCIENCE)

  1. English is compulsory.
  2. A student can select any one of the following as Major subject:
    (i) Botany (ii) Chemistry (iii) Mathematics (iv) Physics (v) Zoology
  3. The students who aren't interested in studying Major the following pass/core course combina­tions are offered and they have to select any one of these combinations -
    (i) Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics
    (ii) Electronics, Mathematics, Physics
    (iii) Botany, Chemistry, Zoology
    (iv) Botany, Sericulture, Zoology
  4. A major course student have to select any two of the above pass course subjects as subsidiary subject.
  5. A Paper on Environmental Studies is compulsory for second year students.

E. DISTANCE EDUCATION AT POST-GRADUATE (M.A./ M.Sc.) LEVEL

Dhemaji College also offers P.G. courses (M.A./M.Sc.) under the Directorate of Distance Education, Dibrugarh University in certain subjects. The Subject are:

(i) Assamese (ii) Economics (iii) History (iv) Mathematics
(v) Political Science (vi) Sociology

Graduates from any recognized University having Major/Honours or General (Core) courses may apply for admission into a post-graduate course offered by distance education, Dibrugarh University. Generally the admission process begins for the course in the month of November/December every year. Interested candidates may contact with the Co-ordinator:

F.   VOCATIONAL/CERTIFICATE/CAREER ORIENTED COURSES :

The College offers following vocational/certificate/career oriented courses at Degree and H.S. level:

(i) Sericulture : At Three year degree level course (B.A./B.Sc.) and also certificate course,
(ii) Fish and Fisheries: Certificate course,
(iii) Refrigerator and A. C. Repairing : Certificate course,
(iv) Computer Education : Certificate course.

Students (Science and Arts) can also apply to get admission in these subject along with their H.S./TDC courses. Student  are directed to contact the Principal of the college or course coordinator in this regard.

College working hours : 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
